DC and NY Vist

This month started off with a visit to DC and then to NY to see daugher #1 and her hubby. The first stop was DC where hubby had a meeting and I was left to entertain myself.  The visit was very short as we got there Wednesday afternoon and I only had Thursday morning to explore. While hubby was in a dinner meeting, I got to have dinner with one of my favorites... It will probably be my last dinner with this wonderful woman as she will be headed to Baltimore and John Hopkins for a master's degree in Nursing. Thursday was spent wandering around the area.  I did a little bit of shopping and ended up at the Ford Theater.  It was a wonderful museum to visit.  Since there weren't as many tourists this time of year we were able to go and actually look into the box seats that Lincoln and his wife were in.  The tour also included the Peterson house where President Lincoln died. We headed to NY on the bus.  I was a little apprehensive about this, but hubby reser

It's November!!

It's November...can you believe it? November means another UFO! And what does that mean to me? I seem to be in pretty good shape for knitting.  Since I got all of the chemo hats done in August, all of my challenges are done!  I know that the Feb challenge, Cow Soft Cuddle no longer needs to be made. The Baby Bomber Jacket will probably wait until next spring for an 18 month size.  So I guess the question is, do I try to finish up the July and March UFOs?  What to do, what to do?? I did not get the map quilt done for October.  However I did get a new toy last month which I hope will help me get that done much quicker.  This month is the boy/girl charity quilts.  Hmmm... I know I can crank those out pretty quickly if I would just set my mind to it.  As I look at this list, there are quite a few UFOs that I did not get started this year.  Of those, I would really like to get the t-shirt quilts off the list for next year! I've enjoyed this challenge a lo

October Re-cap

There were quite a few things that happend in October that I didn't get a chance to blog about.  So before I move into November, let's do a re-cap of October. I know I have mentioned that one of my favorite blogs is "A Quilting Life".  in one of her posts she had a great tutorial for some zippered pouches made out of mini charm packs.  I ended up making three of these and have great plans for making some for the holidays. These would be great for a pedicure kit, sewing kit, first aid kit, stationary kit... the list goes on and on! We also had our monthly 4-H Spin Sewing meeting.  We had 5 kids there but by the time we were ready for pictures, we only had two of the girls left.  We had them make totes based on this tutorial .  It was another successful project and easy enough for the kids to finish in one session. A baby shower was hosted in October and I tried making my first diaper cake.  The roses were made from small bibs and attached with a
