Sometimes the sewing needs to get put aside for real life.  This is one of those times. My husband and I have lately been maniacs about our house remodel.  Early this year, what started out to be painting walls ended up in a total remodel of our upstairs... New doors, bathroom sinks, new bathroom floor, kitchen countertops, stained cupboards, kitchen tile etc etc It took us 7 months.  I thought we would take a break.  He wanted to redo the landscape in the front.   So out can 25 yr old bushes, a basketball goal etc etc I thought we would take a break.  Now we are repainting our house...in July...when the heat index is 110!! The mister clearly needs to leave town and quickly...  please someone call a water conference ASAP!!! 

  Well this was my very first "I made it" week and even though the weather wasn't the best I think it was a success.  Friday was my last day and as you can see from the collage above this was my choice for the day: Looks a lot like the pattern right?  This was so easy to put together especially since there wasn't a zipper.  This was cut as a size 8, something that I am still not used to.  I still add extra on the hips so I grade it out to a size 12.  My daughter would say that my clothes are too loose but I would say that they are nice and comfy!!  This pattern essentially has 2 collars to achieve the look.  I skipped the pockets.  I find that unless they are stitched down they usually add bulk to the sides.  I realize that most people leave reviews on the pattern and that is something that I have neglected to do so here goes.... Well it is the 4th day of "I made it week" so I guess I need to catch up. Tuesday's choice was this easy knit shift made from fabric that I've had in my stash for over a year.   I thought it turned out pretty well.  I have a knit dress that I bought from Gap that I absolutely love.  This pattern from McCall's was a close fit with the exception of the neckline.  So I adjusted the neckline and it was perfect!   I chose this method for finishing the neckband.  In this dress I chose to stitch in the ditch (between the dress and the neckband at the seam) but the inside tends to turn out.   You can see that below: On my next dress I actually sewed the seam down by top stitching on the dress as the tutorial suggested. Well it's been a little while... over 2 years to be exact.  Lots have happened in 2 years. Where to start? Well first of all the title of this blog has changed, I think it reflects my direction a little better.  You can read about me more in my profile but for now I think I'll just share what I have been up to.  I have been sewing and it is a wonderful feeling!  I have been reading blogs from others over the years but somehow I haven't had the chance to really sew for me.  I decided that I would change that this summer.  My Thursday Sewing Camp has been an inspiration to get me going.  I meet with 3 lovely ladies every week and we sew or knit or chat and we inspire each other.  My goal was to have a new outfit started and finished for the next week's meeting.  After 5 weeks, I got 5 outfits done! So for the first time I am doing my very own "I made this outfit" week.  Mimi has been a great help and so far she has steered me in the right direction.   Since
