Remember those booties?

So this happened to those cute little booties yesterday......

Thankfully there were no babies that were hurt in the destruction of these booties. However the bootie is a loss and another one must be knitted.

It must be baby bootie month because I managed to get a grey pair done earlier this month... just in time for a baby shower tomorrow!!

I'll be knitting booties for awhile as I have about 3 other babies that need some cute little things on their tiny little feet.

Our local knitting store is closing and it makes me a little sad. It's just so hard to keep local businesses going in this town. I came home with these things the other day. I wanted to buy more yarn but I had to pace myself. I still have yarn from the last yarn store that closed!

The grey and purple will make cute little booties and the yarn kits will be perfect baby blanket for future little grands!

It's raining outside and I'd rather be knitting than going to work!

Here we are again...

As I started my blog adventures again, I decided to spend a few posts reflecting on life during the hieght of the pandemic. But now, after a few months of various vaccines being available, and a few months of mask mandates being lifted and the hope of life returning to normal.... mask mandates are now coming into effect again. There is a surge in variants of COVID, especially the "Delta variant". There are increases in those testing postive and increases in those being hospitalized. At this time only 45% of Kansans and 50% of the US population are vaccinated. We are a long ways from herd immunity people!! On Friday K-State issued the mask mandate again just as employees are heading back to campus today. USD383 issued a mask mandate for everyone and as far as I can tell when kids return in the fall: I just feel like we are going backwards instead of forwards. My first "I made it" week!!

Well this was my very first "I made it" week and even though the weather wasn't the best I think it was a success. Friday was my last day and as you can see from the collage above this was my choice for the day: Looks a lot like the pattern right? This was so easy to put together especially since there wasn't a zipper. This was cut as a size 8, something that I am still not used to. I still add extra on the hips so I grade it out to a size 12. My daughter would say that my clothes are too loose but I would say that they are nice and comfy!! This pattern essentially has 2 collars to achieve the look. I skipped the pockets. I find that unless they are stitched down they usually add bulk to the sides. I realize that most people leave reviews on the pattern and that is something that I have neglected to do so here goes.... Pattern sizing: size 8 graded to a size 12'at the hips. Sewing interruptions

Sometimes the sewing needs to get put aside for real life. This is one of those times. My husband and I have lately been maniacs about our house remodel. Early this year, what started out to be painting walls ended up in a total remodel of our upstairs... New doors, bathroom sinks, new bathroom floor, kitchen countertops, stained cupboards, kitchen tile etc etc It took us 7 months. I thought we would take a break. He wanted to redo the landscape in the front. So out can 25 yr old bushes, a basketball goal etc etc I thought we would take a break. Now we are repainting our house...in July...when the heat index is 110!! The mister clearly needs to leave town and quickly... please someone call a water conference ASAP!!!
