Weekend Inspiration

So I spend a lot of time collecting inspiration from Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook Feeds etc.  And I thought why not include those inspirations in my blog and just simple call them "Friday Inspirations"?  Maybe those "inspirations" will inspire me to finish my current projects so that I can move to these new projects.  Or maybe they will just inspire me for the weekend because they are beautiful creations.

So here goes the first of hopefully many Friday Inspirations:

This came across my Instagram Feed and is Tokyo Terrace with Robin Picken's Dear Mum fabrics from Moda.  I love how the large blocks just highlight the fabric colors and large prints.

It originally came out in her Blushing Peonies line as a lap quit version.  Which I also just adore and is sitting on my Etsy cart.

And then I got to thinking, wouldn't that pattern be wonderful using these watercolor florals from Hawthorne Threads?  It is a fabric line that I have been eyeing for quilt awhile.  Perhaps a pillow from one of the larger prints along with a Tokyo Terrace lap quilt would be perfect on a sofa??

I know how these inspirations work... after all this was a big inspiration for me.

And then I found out the quilt kit was gone because I sat on the fence for too long.  And I just couldn't let it go.  So I went hunting for the fabrics just too see if they were available.  And after hunting around....I decided to order the fabric before it all disappeared!

I thought these cute little zipper bags were just darling and would be a perfect scrap buster!

Well that's my inspiration for the weekend.  We are gone for the weekend to attend my hubby's niece's wedding.  I'll be ready to come home and spend some time on my sewing machine.  I have 3 Etsy baby quilt orders that need to get done before April 23.  Two are farm quilts and the other is transportation quilt which I have never had an order for and am excited to work on.  I'll blog about those next time!

Here we are again...

As I started my blog adventures again, I decided to spend a few posts reflecting on life during the hieght of the pandemic.  But now, after a few months of various vaccines being available, and a few months of mask mandates being lifted and the hope of life returning to normal.... mask mandates are now coming into effect again.  There is a surge in variants of COVID, especially the "Delta variant".  There are increases in those testing postive and increases in those being hospitalized.  At this time only 45% of Kansans and 50% of the US population are vaccinated.  We are a long ways from herd immunity people!! On Friday K-State issued the mask mandate again just as employees are heading back to campus today. USD383 issued a mask mandate for everyone and as far as I can tell when kids return in the fall: I just feel like we are going backwards instead of forwards. Most of those that are being hospitalized are those who are not vaccinated and many of them ar...

My first "I made it" week!!

Well this was my very first "I made it" week and even though the weather wasn't the best I think it was a success.  Friday was my last day and as you can see from the collage above this was my choice for the day: Looks a lot like the pattern right?  This was so easy to put together especially since there wasn't a zipper.  This was cut as a size 8, something that I am still not used to.  I still add extra on the hips so I grade it out to a size 12.  My daughter would say that my clothes are too loose but I would say that they are nice and comfy!!  This pattern essentially has 2 collars to achieve the look.  I skipped the pockets.  I find that unless they are stitched down they usually add bulk to the sides.  I realize that most people leave reviews on the pattern and that is something that I have neglected to do so here goes.... Pattern sizing:  size 8 graded to a size 12'at the hips.  Did it look like the photo/drawi...

October UFO

Another month has started which means it's another UFO.  I could get depressed about what I haven't been able to finish but instead I think I will be thankful for what I have finished!  So with that, what's up for October? What does this mean for me?   Well as far as sewing is concerned that means that my October UFO is the USA Map.   I'd love to get this done and put it upstairs in my themed "vacation room". And what does it mean for knitting?  I had chemo hats down but since those are all finished I modified my list to make knitted knockers.  How appropriate for breast cancer awareness month! This challenge has been good and I have been to focus on things in my stash.   Speaking of stash, Sherri from A Quilting Life blog had a great tutorial on a patchwork bag .  I had some mini charm packs that I have been trying to figure out what to do with and this was the perfect project. Sew the squares together add...
