Stash bust!

I was asked by my good friend and hair stylist if I would make a apron for a bake sale they were having for Earth Day. I had fabric in my stash that I had purchased specifically for aprons but hadn't taken the time to make them.
These are my two favorite patterns!
Aside from the aprons, I've been busy learning how to alter patterns to fit me better. Sarah Gunn of "Goodbye Valentino" is a blog that I recently discovered and have found her to be very inspirational. She had a great post on a Craftsy Class that she was reviewing "Sew the Perfect Fit" by Lynda Maynard. On her posts she gives a pretty good review and is offering a 40% deal. I had already joined Craftsy but hadn't really been interested in any of the classes. After reading Sarah's post, what did I find in my inbox but a coupon from Craftsy for any online class for $19! Well I took advantage of that coupon and purchased the "Sew the Perfect Fit" class!! Rather than using the Vogue pattern that Lynda Maynard uses for alternations, I used her tips and applied them to Simplicity's Amazing Fit pattern 2475:

After using the methods that Lynda Maynard suggested I made two skirts from my stash that fit me wonderfully!
Now I just need to master adjusting the bodice on my patterns...

To all those that are celebrating Easter, may your Easter Season be filled with many blessings!!

Here we are again...

As I started my blog adventures again, I decided to spend a few posts reflecting on life during the hieght of the pandemic.  But now, after a few months of various vaccines being available, and a few months of mask mandates being lifted and the hope of life returning to normal.... mask mandates are now coming into effect again.  There is a surge in variants of COVID, especially the "Delta variant".  There are increases in those testing postive and increases in those being hospitalized.  At this time only 45% of Kansans and 50% of the US population are vaccinated.  We are a long ways from herd immunity people!! On Friday K-State issued the mask mandate again just as employees are heading back to campus today. USD383 issued a mask mandate for everyone and as far as I can tell when kids return in the fall: I just feel like we are going backwards instead of forwards. Most of those that are being hospitalized are those who are not vaccinated and many of them ar...

And the UFO for May Is....

I've been a little busy so there are lots of things for me to catch up on.  First of all I did not get much done on the UFO Challenge for April.  I did get some baby booties done and delivered.  I do hope that the moms will send me pictures of their little ones with cute little feet. As far as quilting is concerned.. not much got accomplished in April, maybe May will be more productive. The UFO for May is..... And according to my lists this is what I have scheduled..... The good news is that I started my LOVE quilt in March when I was on the quilt retreat.  The LOVE blocks are all done.  I have a few more small squares to cut up but then I should be able start sewing on it again.  Knitting is always difficult.  I should of worked on the cowl while I was on a conference last week but I needed to get some booties done for some upcoming new mamas. Because of this week long conference,  I have had a chance to get lots of knittin...

It's March and what happened to February?

You Well it is March....which means that there is a new UFO Challenge.  And that number is....TWELVE! The Lone Star Quilt is a real UFO.  I must of started it years ago when the kids were really young and never managed to finish it. I bought this yarn about 5 years ago on my first trip to NY.  I was there over Labor Day weekend and Sarah took me to the Lion Bran NY Flagship store.  I manged to use up most of the yarn I bought there but still have a couple of balls that will be used for a wonderful cowl. I had a bunch of things that I wanted to blog about but just didn't get it done.  So what else got finished in February?  Well here's a quick overview of what I had been working on since my last post: My daughter had three baby showers.  And I thought why not try to get all of those congrats and well-wishes into one place and what better way than in a signature quilt?  I used this tutorial for the pattern. For the ...
