And she graduated!!

In December this princess graduated from college!  After spending the semester in Boston student teaching she came back home for graduation! I really really miss her. Needless to say we are very happy and very very proud parents.   It's a little bitter sweet.  She's our last one.  And our 13 1/2 year college journey as also ended!  But we're not that sad...that means that we are also done with college tuition!!   She's back in Boston  and this is girl is going to light the world on fire!!  💕

Another trip last fall , this time Boston

As soon as I got home from NY last November, I turned around and left for Boston, to visit the Princess. It was so nice to see her again.  I came in on Thursday and left on Sunday.  It was another short visit, but we sure packed a lot in! It was bitterly cold in Boston, in fact it was the coldest all year and they were setting records for low temperatures in the evening.  But that did not stop us from venturing out! On Friday she took me on a tour of her school and her classroom.  And as we were leaving I got to meet the teacher she is working with.  The school is so convenient,  just a short 15 minute walk from their apartment. We also explored Brookline a neighborhood that is just a few blocks from them.  It is full of wonderful restaurants and cute boutiques.  We found a knitting store and some wonderful children's stores.  It was so hard not to buy a bunch of things for the grand!! We stopped and had lunch, and thawe...

Happy New Year.. a little late

I've been meaning to write this post for awhile but I feel like I was so far behind I didn't know where to start. Well another year has come and gone.  I was doing pretty good on the posts and then the holidays happened! And then it seemed like such a big task to capture all that has happened.  I've decided I've postponed long enough so I am just going to blog and on days that I don't have anything to blog about I'll just back track. I am not going to make any resolutions or promises for the year, I know better.  But I will try hard to blog so that I can keep track of the projects that I am working on. I am doing the APQ UFO Challenge again.  I made great progress last year and it did help me stay focused. Here is what was accomplished last year.  I realized that some of the projects that I initially wanted to do at the beginning of the year maybe didn't seem to have the same importance as the year progressed and I am ok with that.  Six projects...

DC and NY Vist

This month started off with a visit to DC and then to NY to see daugher #1 and her hubby. The first stop was DC where hubby had a meeting and I was left to entertain myself.  The visit was very short as we got there Wednesday afternoon and I only had Thursday morning to explore. While hubby was in a dinner meeting, I got to have dinner with one of my favorites... It will probably be my last dinner with this wonderful woman as she will be headed to Baltimore and John Hopkins for a master's degree in Nursing. Thursday was spent wandering around the area.  I did a little bit of shopping and ended up at the Ford Theater.  It was a wonderful museum to visit.  Since there weren't as many tourists this time of year we were able to go and actually look into the box seats that Lincoln and his wife were in.  The tour also included the Peterson house where President Lincoln died. We headed to NY on the bus.  I was a little apprehensive about ...

It's November!!

It's November...can you believe it? November means another UFO! And what does that mean to me? I seem to be in pretty good shape for knitting.  Since I got all of the chemo hats done in August, all of my challenges are done!  I know that the Feb challenge, Cow Soft Cuddle no longer needs to be made. The Baby Bomber Jacket will probably wait until next spring for an 18 month size.  So I guess the question is, do I try to finish up the July and March UFOs?  What to do, what to do?? I did not get the map quilt done for October.  However I did get a new toy last month which I hope will help me get that done much quicker.  This month is the boy/girl charity quilts.  Hmmm... I know I can crank those out pretty quickly if I would just set my mind to it.  As I look at this list, there are quite a few UFOs that I did not get started this year.  Of those, I would really like to get the t-shirt quilts off the list for next year! ...

October Re-cap

There were quite a few things that happend in October that I didn't get a chance to blog about.  So before I move into November, let's do a re-cap of October. I know I have mentioned that one of my favorite blogs is "A Quilting Life".  in one of her posts she had a great tutorial for some zippered pouches made out of mini charm packs.  I ended up making three of these and have great plans for making some for the holidays. These would be great for a pedicure kit, sewing kit, first aid kit, stationary kit... the list goes on and on! We also had our monthly 4-H Spin Sewing meeting.  We had 5 kids there but by the time we were ready for pictures, we only had two of the girls left.  We had them make totes based on this tutorial .  It was another successful project and easy enough for the kids to finish in one session. A baby shower was hosted in October and I tried making my first diaper cake.  The roses were made from small bibs and ...

It's almost Halloween

When you daughter tells you on Monday that she'd like to take the grand baby to the zoo for trick or treating but she isn't sure if she can get the costume done... Nana raises her hand up and says "I'll work on it for you!" That was the conversation on Monday afternoon.  She agreed to cut it out while I watched the grand baby. Hubby is gone, so that means lots of sewing time for me when I get home from work.  And I finished it last night! Oh she is going to be so adorable! And she even has a Halloween bag to match!!
