Happy New Year.. a little late

I've been meaning to write this post for awhile but I feel like I was so far behind I didn't know where to start.

Well another year has come and gone.  I was doing pretty good on the posts and then the holidays happened! And then it seemed like such a big task to capture all that has happened.  I've decided I've postponed long enough so I am just going to blog and on days that I don't have anything to blog about I'll just back track.

I am not going to make any resolutions or promises for the year, I know better.  But I will try hard to blog so that I can keep track of the projects that I am working on.

I am doing the APQ UFO Challenge again.  I made great progress last year and it did help me stay focused. Here is what was accomplished last year.  I realized that some of the projects that I initially wanted to do at the beginning of the year maybe didn't seem to have the same importance as the year progressed and I am ok with that.

Six projects done out of twelve.  I am pretty happy with that as that is six projects that I don't have in my UFO pile!

Seven projects out of twelve was finished.  As with the quilts this is seven things that aren't on my UFO list.  However things like the chemo hats and baby booties will always be on my list.

So whats on the agenda for next year?

The number for January was #12.  I've made progress and the good news is that there is still about another week left this month!

Here we are again...

As I started my blog adventures again, I decided to spend a few posts reflecting on life during the hieght of the pandemic.  But now, after a few months of various vaccines being available, and a few months of mask mandates being lifted and the hope of life returning to normal.... mask mandates are now coming into effect again.  There is a surge in variants of COVID, especially the "Delta variant".  There are increases in those testing postive and increases in those being hospitalized.  At this time only 45% of Kansans and 50% of the US population are vaccinated.  We are a long ways from herd immunity people!! On Friday K-State issued the mask mandate again just as employees are heading back to campus today. USD383 issued a mask mandate for everyone and as far as I can tell when kids return in the fall: I just feel like we are going backwards instead of forwards. Most of those that are being hospitalized are those who are not vaccinated and many of them ar...

Craft night!

Daughter #3 and I have been wanting to do a craft night for quite awhile. When our local studio offered this Map String Art class I knew we just had to go!  The class was set up to do the map in red, white and blue.  We didn't want to have two of the same thing so I decided to do mine in different colors.  I went out and bought ... you guessed it .. purple and white string!! We had so much fun!!  think they turned out pretty well!  Here's a close up of mine after I cleaned it up: This wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.  They used this site for their inspiration: http://thetwinery.com/2013/08/inspired-by-pinterest-map-twine-art.html I think I'd like to do one of our home state of Kansas next.  Pinterst had some pretty good sites; http://www.sugarbeecrafts.com/2014/10/missouri-love.html#_a5y_p=2693507 And finally here's a picture of our class: I can't wait for our next craft night!!

Capsule Wardrobe

I have thought about doing a capsule wardrobe for quite awhile.  Now that the season is changing I thought I would see if I can make it work.  I scoured the web and Pinterest for information.  I found this great site that at least helped me find a starting spot.   One of the tips was to chose a base color, black or blue and go from there.  Black was the obvious choice for me. I need to say that I decided to start this project at 9pm at night.  I decided to clean out my closet at 9pm, was I crazy?  Yes, but I forged on... I cleaned out my closet, then I started with pants, skirts, tops etc.  I used the website to help me figure out what I needed.  Long sleeve knits, in three basic colors, grey, white and black.  Same for the short sleeves.  Then I moved to the next thing skirts, three skirts, grey, black and denim.  Next was sweaters, grey, black....are you starting to see a pattern?  I realized as I moved through the ...
