Another Etsy Order

I've been working on an Etsy Order... another navy Farm Quilt.

For this quilt, the customer did not want buttons for the eyes or nostrils since it was for a baby.  I knew I could applique the nostrils but wasn't quite sure about the eyes.  Then I as I sat there contemplating what to do, I realized I could just use my embroidery machine and embroider the eyes. I ended up using a ".", enlarging it a little and there it was... two eyes!  I may have to use this method from now on!!

I was particularly happy with the FMQ on this quilt.  I am not sure why but it just looked better.  I did adjust the stitch length and shortened up the meandering.

It is off to the new owners so hopefully they will enjoy it!

I finally bought a new iron board and this one is a little wider than the standard size.  I love it!  I also realized that when I set up next to my cutting table it helps expand my work surface just a little bit more.  My hubby claims that I am pretty easy to please if a new ironing board can bring me that much happiness!

P.S. The ironing board is from Target and after reading the reviews I did purchase and additional cover since the reviews indicated that the original cover is a little thin.  I just put the new one over the original and things are prefect!!  It is a little pricey but in my opinion totally worth the price!

And the UFO for May Is....

I've been a little busy so there are lots of things for me to catch up on.  First of all I did not get much done on the UFO Challenge for April.  I did get some baby booties done and delivered.  I do hope that the moms will send me pictures of their little ones with cute little feet. As far as quilting is concerned.. not much got accomplished in April, maybe May will be more productive. The UFO for May is..... And according to my lists this is what I have scheduled..... The good news is that I started my LOVE quilt in March when I was on the quilt retreat.  The LOVE blocks are all done.  I have a few more small squares to cut up but then I should be able start sewing on it again.  Knitting is always difficult.  I should of worked on the cowl while I was on a conference last week but I needed to get some booties done for some upcoming new mamas. Because of this week long conference,  I have had a chance to get lots of knittin...

Here we are again...

As I started my blog adventures again, I decided to spend a few posts reflecting on life during the hieght of the pandemic.  But now, after a few months of various vaccines being available, and a few months of mask mandates being lifted and the hope of life returning to normal.... mask mandates are now coming into effect again.  There is a surge in variants of COVID, especially the "Delta variant".  There are increases in those testing postive and increases in those being hospitalized.  At this time only 45% of Kansans and 50% of the US population are vaccinated.  We are a long ways from herd immunity people!! On Friday K-State issued the mask mandate again just as employees are heading back to campus today. USD383 issued a mask mandate for everyone and as far as I can tell when kids return in the fall: I just feel like we are going backwards instead of forwards. Most of those that are being hospitalized are those who are not vaccinated and many of them ar...

Stash bust!

I was asked by my good friend and hair stylist if I would make a apron for a bake sale they were having for Earth Day. I had fabric in my stash that I had purchased specifically for aprons but hadn't taken the time to make them. These are my two favorite patterns! Aside from the aprons, I've been busy learning how to alter patterns to fit me better. Sarah Gunn of "Goodbye Valentino" is a blog that I recently discovered and have found her to be very inspirational. She had a great post on a Craftsy Class that she was reviewing "Sew the Perfect Fit" by Lynda Maynard. On her posts she gives a pretty good review and is offering a 40% deal. I had already joined Craftsy but hadn't really been interested in any of the classes. After reading Sarah's post, what did I find in my inbox but a coupon from Craftsy for any online class for $19! Well I took advantage of that coupon and purchased the "Sew the Perfect Fit" class!! Rather than u...
