And now we are a Bostonian!

Well we go the kids moved into their apartment....

Dad was a little tired from the previous day's pre-game events.

But Allison and I managed to get a dresser put together!

Allston is not what I expected at all...it is truly a little college area nestled around Boston College, Boston University, Harvard and MIT....wow!!

BU is a few stops east on the metro, Allison's School Jackson/Mann is a short 15 minute walk... and that is their life for the next three years.

Our hotel had a great view of the St. Charles River and in the morning we could see the BU rowing crew practicing.

After 2 days of shopping, putting together furniture, unpacking etc,  Drew  started Law School and Allison started student teaching.   Dan and I decided to explore the city.  We chose to do the Freedom Trail.  It is a historic walk of Boston tracing some of the steps that led to the Boston Tea Party and the Revolutionary War.

The start of the Freedom Trail was at the Boston Common across the street from the Massachusetts State House.  From there it took us to the Granary Burying Ground where Benjamin's Franklin's parents were buried.  We also stopped at King's Chapel where the first public school was started.

Along the way we stopped at the Old South Meeting House which was the organizing point for the Boston Tea Party.  Further on was Paul Revere's Home and across the street was a church where Rose Kennedy was baptized and buried.

North Church is the oldest standing church building in Boston.  It is the location from which the famous lines "One if by land, two if by sea" signal is said to have been sent.

In the afternoon we met up with Allison after she was done and went to the Boston Public Library and the Back Bay area. It is wonderful when your public library looks like a museum!

It was still hard to leave them,  but I felt much better knowing where they were living was safe and full of great adventures.

And the UFO for May Is....

I've been a little busy so there are lots of things for me to catch up on.  First of all I did not get much done on the UFO Challenge for April.  I did get some baby booties done and delivered.  I do hope that the moms will send me pictures of their little ones with cute little feet. As far as quilting is concerned.. not much got accomplished in April, maybe May will be more productive. The UFO for May is..... And according to my lists this is what I have scheduled..... The good news is that I started my LOVE quilt in March when I was on the quilt retreat.  The LOVE blocks are all done.  I have a few more small squares to cut up but then I should be able start sewing on it again.  Knitting is always difficult.  I should of worked on the cowl while I was on a conference last week but I needed to get some booties done for some upcoming new mamas. Because of this week long conference,  I have had a chance to get lots of knittin...

Here we are again...

As I started my blog adventures again, I decided to spend a few posts reflecting on life during the hieght of the pandemic.  But now, after a few months of various vaccines being available, and a few months of mask mandates being lifted and the hope of life returning to normal.... mask mandates are now coming into effect again.  There is a surge in variants of COVID, especially the "Delta variant".  There are increases in those testing postive and increases in those being hospitalized.  At this time only 45% of Kansans and 50% of the US population are vaccinated.  We are a long ways from herd immunity people!! On Friday K-State issued the mask mandate again just as employees are heading back to campus today. USD383 issued a mask mandate for everyone and as far as I can tell when kids return in the fall: I just feel like we are going backwards instead of forwards. Most of those that are being hospitalized are those who are not vaccinated and many of them ar...

Stash bust!

I was asked by my good friend and hair stylist if I would make a apron for a bake sale they were having for Earth Day. I had fabric in my stash that I had purchased specifically for aprons but hadn't taken the time to make them. These are my two favorite patterns! Aside from the aprons, I've been busy learning how to alter patterns to fit me better. Sarah Gunn of "Goodbye Valentino" is a blog that I recently discovered and have found her to be very inspirational. She had a great post on a Craftsy Class that she was reviewing "Sew the Perfect Fit" by Lynda Maynard. On her posts she gives a pretty good review and is offering a 40% deal. I had already joined Craftsy but hadn't really been interested in any of the classes. After reading Sarah's post, what did I find in my inbox but a coupon from Craftsy for any online class for $19! Well I took advantage of that coupon and purchased the "Sew the Perfect Fit" class!! Rather than u...
