Week 3 of Me Made Me

I survived another week of Me Made May.  I must admit now that the weather is getting a little warmer it hasn't been too difficult.

Going clockwise:
  • The black striped dress is an RTW but needed adjustments as it was too big in the sides and in the shoulders.
  • The black pants are made out of a wonderful ponte that I bought at B&J Fabrics in NY.  I used the StyleArc Elle pattern and these have a proven to be a wonderful staple in my wardrobe.
  • This is another StyleArc pattern, the Kristen Dress.   I love this pattern and  have made another version of it, which I blogged about here.
  • And yet another pair of StyleArc Elle pants.  My husband was in New Zealand a few years ago and I begged him to bring back some fabric for me.  A little searching on the web led me to a fabric store that was located very close to where he was staying.  After a few emails, I had 3 meters each of black, grey and taupe bengaline!  The first thing I made was these Elle pants as bengaline was the recommended fabric.  It wears well but I must admit, I like my black ponte pair so much better!
  • This must be the StyleArc week, because this is the Ivy Knit Top.  I blogged about this top here.  I still think it is too big and will go down one size next time I make it.
  • The week ended with this McCall's knit dress that I made last summer and is still one of my favorites.
It's hard to believe that we are in the final week of the "Me Made Me" challenge!  Hopefully I'll get a chance to post pics of what I wore during Week 1 while I was at my conference.

Since I finished the "muslin" of my Shirtdress Sew-Along, I am ready to cut out my "real" version.  More on that tomorrow....

And the UFO for May Is....

I've been a little busy so there are lots of things for me to catch up on.  First of all I did not get much done on the UFO Challenge for April.  I did get some baby booties done and delivered.  I do hope that the moms will send me pictures of their little ones with cute little feet. As far as quilting is concerned.. not much got accomplished in April, maybe May will be more productive. The UFO for May is..... And according to my lists this is what I have scheduled..... The good news is that I started my LOVE quilt in March when I was on the quilt retreat.  The LOVE blocks are all done.  I have a few more small squares to cut up but then I should be able start sewing on it again.  Knitting is always difficult.  I should of worked on the cowl while I was on a conference last week but I needed to get some booties done for some upcoming new mamas. Because of this week long conference,  I have had a chance to get lots of knittin...

Here we are again...

As I started my blog adventures again, I decided to spend a few posts reflecting on life during the hieght of the pandemic.  But now, after a few months of various vaccines being available, and a few months of mask mandates being lifted and the hope of life returning to normal.... mask mandates are now coming into effect again.  There is a surge in variants of COVID, especially the "Delta variant".  There are increases in those testing postive and increases in those being hospitalized.  At this time only 45% of Kansans and 50% of the US population are vaccinated.  We are a long ways from herd immunity people!! On Friday K-State issued the mask mandate again just as employees are heading back to campus today. USD383 issued a mask mandate for everyone and as far as I can tell when kids return in the fall: I just feel like we are going backwards instead of forwards. Most of those that are being hospitalized are those who are not vaccinated and many of them ar...

Stash bust!

I was asked by my good friend and hair stylist if I would make a apron for a bake sale they were having for Earth Day. I had fabric in my stash that I had purchased specifically for aprons but hadn't taken the time to make them. These are my two favorite patterns! Aside from the aprons, I've been busy learning how to alter patterns to fit me better. Sarah Gunn of "Goodbye Valentino" is a blog that I recently discovered and have found her to be very inspirational. She had a great post on a Craftsy Class that she was reviewing "Sew the Perfect Fit" by Lynda Maynard. On her posts she gives a pretty good review and is offering a 40% deal. I had already joined Craftsy but hadn't really been interested in any of the classes. After reading Sarah's post, what did I find in my inbox but a coupon from Craftsy for any online class for $19! Well I took advantage of that coupon and purchased the "Sew the Perfect Fit" class!! Rather than u...
