It's October, where have this month gone!! It's been crazy busy for me. I'll catch everyone up but for now I am going to blog about my Facebook and Instagram post. So I meant to post this earlier this month:
To all of my knitting friends,
Today starts Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We all know someone who is fighting and has fought the battle of this awful disease. I challenge all of you to pick up your knitting needles this month and make a hat (or two) for these strong women. Your hats can be donated to your local cancer center. If you need a pattern contact me. I'd love to see pictures of your creations! As for me, I'll be knitting hats all month! #knit4cure
I just finished the second hat last week:
This pattern has been a favorite and one that some of my friends who have had chemo really like wearing. The pattern is from Ravelry and was designed by someone based on her experience. It is a free pattern and can be found on Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pi-topper-chemo-cap
The yarn that is used for the pattern is no longer available. I did use Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. It is actually a wonderful substitute! I have it from good sources that it is so soft and so very comfortable. If you want something similar to the Elann Esprit which is a stretchy yarn, you can use Cascade Fixation
I am working on another hat that is just a little more challenging but I think will be beautiful when done. I'll be sure to blog about it when it is finished!
Some of my knitting friends are taking up my challenge and we will be donating our hats to our local chemo center.
